A 51-year-old-cement finisher suffered a heart attack while on the job, but the employer disputed his right to benefits. Our office took his case to arbitration where he was awarded $577.77 per week for life, together with medical benefits.
Two years later the client needed a heart transplant, and the insurance carrier once again refused to pay the bills. Following a second arbitration hearing, the client was awarded more than a quarter million dollars in medical expenses and $150,000 in penalties and attorney’s fees.
The Appellate Court affirmed the decision, and the case ultimately settled.
