A 62-year-old forklift mechanic injured his lower back. The insurance carrier provided him with medical treatment for about a month. Approximately nine months later, the injured worker sought to return to his doctor, but the insurance carrier denied responsibility. Capron Avgerinos & Heinlen compelled the carrier to authorize the treatment, which included a lower-back surgery, and we compelled the company to reimburse the injured worker’s group health insurance carrier for the bills that were paid. After our client returned to his job as a forklift mechanic, we negotiated a settlement of more than $128,000.
