A 63-year-old registered nurse (RN) was helping a co-worker move a resident of an assisted care facility. She sustained a back injury that resulted in her undergoing surgery and was left with permanent work restrictions that did not permit her to return to her profession. We settled her workers’ compensation case for $250,000 along with an additional sum of nearly $200,000 to fund a Medicare Set-Aside account to be used exclusively for future medical and pharmaceutical expenses.
