A 37-year-old passenger in a work van was injured when the vehicle he was riding in was rear-ended by another vehicle. He was transported to the hospital with complaints of neck, right shoulder, and low-back pain. We were able to settle his personal injury case for the full policy limits of $50,000. Because our client was riding in a work van, he also received workers’ compensation benefits, but his employer and insurance carrier asserted liens against the personal injury settlement. We limited the liens associated with his care and treatment to maximize his net recovery.
