A 40-year-old laborer hired to remove stucco from a storefront in Kankakee, Illinois sustained a severely comminuted fracture of his humerus when a wall collapsed on him. The fracture required two surgeries and the insertion of a metal rod into the bone. Our investigation uncovered building code violations that led to the collapse and had not been disclosed to the client by the building owner.
After we rejected an offer of settlement recommended by the judge, the case proceeded to trial and resulted in one of the highest county verdicts obtained in the past several years.
